Since there are a few different types of areas that you’ll be able to explore during your time in GO Fest, you’ll need to know where to search, as well as which monsters have a chance to be shiny. Normally, you’ll only have a 1 in 500 chance to come across a shiny Pokemon, but during special events such as GO Fest, these odds are significantly lowered, going down to as low as 1 in 96, making your shiny hunting experience more delightful than ever before. Making sure that you’re shiny checking Pokemon to avoid throwing valuable Pokeballs is also a great thing. Shiny checking is going into an encounter, seeing if they are shiny by seeing an icon and a flash of stars, and if not, backing out and trying another Pokemon.

Making sure that you’ve got enough storage to catch as many monsters as possible is key before a major event like this, so make sure that you’re ready both physically and digitally. If you’re looking along the lines of adding more Legendary ‘mons to your team, you’re also in luck during the GO Fest event, as you’ll have a chance to get your hands on two different versions of the gratitude Pokemon, Shaymin!
