New Gameplay for the upcoming Saints Row reboot has been released. The Saints Row gameplay warns that this is an early pre-alpha build of the game, but it’s hard to argue that the series has ever looked better.
While the trailer is only two minutes long, it showcases quite a bit; we see the player driving a buggy through the outskirts of Santo Ileso and ramming into parts of a rather destructible environment as well as pedestrians jumping out of the way to avoid getting hit. We also see a glimpse of what the night life in the city will be like and it looks to be quite a lively city environment. The trailer shows what looks to be an incident of some kind and police and firefighters at the scene with lights flashing, giving off the impression that the world of Saints Row will simulate real-world interactions aside from the actions that the player takes.
The Saints Row reboot was announced back in August during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The reboot was announced to feature a brand new cast and characters with returning gameplay elements that made the original so digestible for many gamers and is sure to appeal to them specifically. The last game was released in 2013 so it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen a new entry. It will be exciting to see how the game runs on the next-generation consoles in 2022.
Deep Silver boasts that this Saints Row is going to be the “biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created” and that the world will be full of side hustles, criminal ventures and big story missions. We’ll have to wait and see if the systems behind the game are as good as the visuals and world that they’ve shown off here in this gameplay.
Regardless, expectations are high for the Saints Row reboot and this first look at gameplay has certainly calmed some fears. While the franchise might have started its life as what many thought was a Grand Theft Auto clone, the developers spun the title into something completely different as the series progressed.
The Saints Row reboot will release on February 25, 2022 for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
